Women have always participated actively in the evolution of science and new technologies. To name a few: Margaret Wilcox, Maria Telkes, Florence Parpart, Ada Lovelace and Hedy Lamarr, are all Women and are all inventors. They changed the world then and the Women of today continue to do so now. They create new products that disrupt society and our daily lives. We are hosting a panel discussion to highlight the brilliant Women in Tech who work to change our world. We will discuss their stories, their personal journey and the challenges they have faced.

Strategic Investors include Fonds Québecor Innovation and La Capitale Assurances
Montreal, Quebec — January 28th, 2019 — CONTXTFUL, a Montreal-based technology start-up focused on developing products that provide insights on mobile users, improving how advertisers and insurers interact with their customers, today announced it has raised $2 million in seed financing. The seed round is led by Fonds Innovexport and includes strategic investors such as Fonds Québecor Innovation inc., La Capitale Assureur de l’administration publique as well as Anges Québec, private angels and founding partners.

Nokia names industrial automation startup HaiLa winner of the 2019 Nokia Open Innovation Challenge

Espoo, Finland — Nokia today announced that Canadian startup company HaiLa, which offers technologies that can drastically reduce energy consumption for Internet of Things devices, has won the 2019 Nokia Open Innovation Challenge. HaiLa was awarded €100,000 in financial resources and will be given access to researchers and product development teams at Nokia and Nokia Bell Labs to position it for business growth as the world moves towards industrial automation enabled by 5G networks.

New fund will support the creation of 20 new Canadian technology start-ups
Montreal, Quebec — November 4, 2019 — TandemLaunch, a start-up foundry and seed fund focused on creating, incubating and accelerating early-stage technology start-ups, today announced the final close of the TandemLaunch Ventures III (“TLVIII”) fund for total proceeds of approximately $30 million. This fund is dedicated to the creation of over twenty disruptive Quebec-based technology companies that have the potential for global commercialization.
New York, NY, October 23, 2019 — The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and IEEE Computer Society (IEEE-CS) have named Geoffrey C. Fox of Indiana University Bloomington as the recipient of the 2019 ACM-IEEE CS Ken Kennedy Award. Fox was cited for foundational contributions to parallel computing methodology, algorithms and software, and data analysis, and their interfaces with broad classes of applications. The award will be presented at SC 19: The International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis, November 17–22, in Denver, Colorado.
